Accepted Students

Confirmation and fees
Accepted students are mailed an acceptance letter and confirmation form. The confirmation form and a non-refundable $250 deposit (check or money order payable to "University of Cincinnati") should be returned to the College within 21 days of the date on the acceptance letter to secure a spot in the program. The $250 deposit is applied as a tuition credit.

Students who require more than 21 days to return the confirmation form and deposit should contact the College to request an extension at (513) 558-3784.

Conditional and unconditional admission
Until accepted students complete all of their pre-pharmacy requirements, their admission is considered to be conditional. Once we verify that the student has completed all pre-pharmacy requirements and complied with other pre-admission requirements, their acceptance becomes unconditional. If a conditionally-admitted student does not complete the pre-pharmacy requirements before professional pharmacy classes begin, they forfeit their admission to the College.

Summer orientation
In late June, the College hosts an orientation day to provide accepted students with HIPAA training, acclimate them to the College, prepare them for their summer shadowing experience, and assist them with questions they may have. The summer orientation is also the first time classmates meet in person. Attendance at this orientation is suggested but not mandatory.

Summer shadowing program
After admission and prior to enrollment in the program, students are required to participate in a mandatory summer shadowing program which places them in a variety of pharmacy settings with assigned preceptors for a total of 16 hours. Participation in and completion of the summer shadowing program counts as a percentage of a final grade in one of the first professional year classes. Accepted students will receive further instruction on fulfilling this requirement.

Mandatory orientation
The College hosts a mandatory orientation program during the two days before classes begin in the fall. Students should dress in business casual attire and come prepared with a notebook and writing instrument. Both days are filled with introductions, informative presentations, and workshops. Student IDs are issued at this orientation event. Participation in and completion of this orientation program counts as a percentage of a final grade in one of the first professional year classes. Orientation for students entering in fall 2009 is Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, 2009.

White Coat Ceremony
The College hosts a White Coat Ceremony the evening before classes begin. Family members are invited to observe admitted students transition into a professional pharmacy program, symbolized by the awarding of the student's first white lab coat. The White Coat Ceremony for students entering in fall 2009 is Tuesday, September 22, 2009.

Intern licenses and background checks
All admitted students are required to obtain an intern license for the states of Ohio and Kentucky. To obtain an intern license in Ohio, students must complete a background check. Students will be informed of details on how to complete the background check. Students are responsible for any fees or travel expenses associated with the background check. During Orientation, students will be given information, forms, and instructions on how to register as a pharmacy intern. In Ohio, students cannot register as interns until they are enrolled in (attending) a college of pharmacy. For more information, visit the Ohio Board of Pharmacy or the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.

Medical history and immunization requirements
After admission and prior to enrollment in the program, all students must meet certain medical and immunization requirements. Click here for more information.
